Ferrari's Luce EV Costs Way More Than Its V12 Purosangue SUV

Not necessarily a surprise, but Ferrari's first electric car will cost considerably more than its V12-powered SUV. Our colleagues at Car and Driver have learned that the Luce starts at $560,800 in the United States, a hefty $122,190 premium over the Purosangue, which starts at $438,610. Ferrari has no other model that directly compares with the Luce, making the Purosangue the closest pricing benchmark.

Both cars have rear doors and emphasize practicality more than Ferrari's traditional two-seat sports cars, though the electric newcomer takes a different approach with its radically wild styling. The Purosangue remains the more conventional choice for buyers who want an SUV with a naturally aspirated V12 under the hood.

The Luce is expected to reach U.S. customers in the second quarter of 2027. It marks a major departure for Maranello, bringing an electric powertrain to a lineup that has traditionally built its reputation on high-performance, large-displacement combustion engines mounted in front and behind the driver. Inside and out, the outlandish EV looks unlike anything Ferrari has ever produced.

While the Purosangue uses a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter gas engine, the Luce relies on four electric motors, one at each wheel. The combined output stands at 1,035 horsepower, enough to propel Ferrari's first EV from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 2.5 seconds.

The electric grand tourer draws power from a 122-kWh battery pack and has an estimated EPA range of 280 miles. That isn't especially impressive for such a large battery, but we'd like to think Ferrari prioritized performance and driving engagement over chasing maximum range.
