Chery October sales rise 5.3% as NEVs hit record and exports top 200,000 again

Chery Group's vehicle sales rose 5.25% year-on-year in October, as monthly new energy vehicle (NEV) sales hit another record and exports exceeded 200,000 for the third time this year.

The Chinese automaker said on Sunday that it sold 295,934 vehicles in October. Sales in the first 10 months of the year totaled 2,502,723 vehicles, up 9.34% year-on-year.

NEVs remained a key growth driver. Chery Group sold 140,893 NEVs in October, up 27.7% year-on-year and exceeding 100,000 for the seventh consecutive month.

The group's NEV sales reached 999,417 in the first 10 months, up 43.2% year-on-year and already surpassing last year's full-year total.

Overseas business also maintained strong growth. Chery Group exported 200,618 vehicles in October, up 58.67% year-on-year, accounting for about 68% of its total monthly sales.

In the first 10 months, the group's exports totaled 1,751,766 vehicles, up 64.8% year-on-year and accounting for about 70% of total sales.

Chery is accelerating its expansion in Europe. The company said it sold 292,000 vehicles across 24 European countries in the first 3 quarters of the year, up 182% year-on-year. That included more than 146,000 NEVs, up 251%.

The group is also expanding its overseas brand presence and manufacturing footprint. Chery is considering local production in Canada and plans to begin sales there in 2027, Bloomberg reported on October 23.

Chery's iCar brand also plans to enter the UK under its overseas name, iCaur, with sales of its first model, the V27, expected to begin in early 2027.
