Audi drivers no longer need a phone to stream Spotify. Starting October 21, 2026, the automaker became the first to run Spotify's fully native in-car app, built directly into the vehicle's infotainment system with no Bluetooth or cable required.
The app works through the Audi Application Store on newer models, and it changes what is possible both behind the wheel and parked at a charger. Here are the cars that qualify and what works while you are driving.
The native app runs on vehicles built on Audi's Premium Platform Electric and Premium Platform Combustion architectures. At launch, that means the Audi A6 E-Tron, Q6 E-Tron, and the 2026 A5, Q5, and A6. Audi says additional current and future models on these platforms will follow over time, but it has not named specific nameplates beyond these yet.
Setup is refreshingly simple: download the app free from the Audi Application Store, then sign in with a Spotify Free or Premium account. Once that is done, the car streams on its own. No phone tethering, no cable, no Bluetooth pairing dance every time you get in.
Audi plans to roll the feature out across 47 markets worldwide, spanning Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Australia. Availability and specific features can still vary by region, so what you get in Germany might not match what shows up in the US right away.
Cost depends on your market and your Spotify subscription tier. The app itself is free to install, but you will still need a paid or ad-supported account to play anything, same as on a phone.
