Ather to rev up monthly capacity by 18,000 units to tap rising demand

The electric two-wheeler maker reported its first-ever quarterly PAT in Q2 FY27, posting a net profit of ₹1.26 crore compared with a net loss of ₹154.07 crore in the same period last year.

Ather believes its new scooter, Konark will widen its addressable customer base beyond its existing electric two-wheeler buyers.

Ather is planning to ramp up its monthly production capacity by a total of 18,000 units across its Hosur facility in Tamil Nadu and AURIC Phase 1 plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra to address capacity constraints and tap rising demand, the company said in its post-earnings call on Monday. This is part of its expansion to address the supply constraints despite a sharp increase in customer interest. “On current demand trajectory from the current stores, our team's internal estimate is that we have roughly about 20,000 units per month of unrealised retail that we are not tapping into yet,” Mehta added. The electric two-wheeler maker, which was incorporated in 2013, also reported its first-ever quarterly profit in the July-September quarter of FY27 on Monday. 07 crore in the same period last year. “I would be remiss in not acknowledging the first time our business hit a positive PAT. Something definitely worth celebrating for us,” CEO Tarun Mehta said during the company's Q2 earnings call.
