Every modern Pixel ships with a built-in hardware diagnostics tool. It was originally meant for repair technicians but is fully usable by anyone. It's free, already on your phone, and it can tell you in a few minutes whether something is actually broken or you're chasing a software glitch.

One thing to know upfront: you'll need a stable Wi-Fi connection, so make sure you're on a reliable network before you start, then tap Confirm when prompted and press OK to acknowledge that diagnostics are available. Don't be alarmed if your screen brightness suddenly goes all the way up either; that's the app preparing for display tests.

This isn't some undocumented engineering backdoor. Google formally supports the tool, listing the exact dialer code in its official Pixel support pages and recommending you use it before and after a repair to confirm what's wrong and later to verify the fix worked.
