By combining its 62-year tradition of hand-tailored craftsmanship with modern enterprise technology, Adrian Jules Custom Clothier is altering the way private-label tailors and retailers manage the entire luxury custom clothing experience.
The company was established in Rochester, New York, in 1964 by an Italian designer and master tailor who had come to the United States from Italy. It started out as a domestic manufacturing service for individual tailors and independent clothing businesses. Across three generations the business has expanded the number of its retail outlets and has increased its American manufacturing capacity. Today, the well-known brand is moving forward with a technology-enabled platform that brings together custom apparel production throughout the global supply chains through its Platinum line.
Seeing the possibility of achieving operational efficiencies in the traditional hand-tailoring processes, the company developed its own Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in order to monitor the garments from the time the order was first entered through to workshop cutting, construction and accounting.
This internal operational tool soon developed into a client-facing platform aimed at tackling a long-standing problem in the industry: manufacturing transparency. Private-label tailors, who in the past have had to deal with fragmented supply chains in international workshops and fabric mills, now have a single central hub via the Adrian Jules and Platinum system.
“Technology has been a gamechanger for us,” said Arnie Roberti, president of operations.
