As we arrive at the halfway point of the fall season, Timberland has already delivered a number of coveted special-edition styles, but it’s not only the outdoor brand’s classic Premium 6-inch Waterproof Boot that’s stirring up noise. Another one of its iconic, yet sometimes overlooked models is the Euro Hiker, which recently received a curated update courtesy of footwear industry veteran Victor Kan.
After a speedy sell-through Saturday from Kan’s New York boutique, Third of June, the designer and retail owner’s Timberland Euro Hiker Gore-Tex collaboration will receive its final release Monday from Timberland’s e-commerce store.
“After working with Timberland closely for over a decade as a buyer and collaborator with various boutiques, I am now working with the brand under my own name,” Kan wrote on Instagram. “The first iteration of the collaboration uses the Euro Hiker as a canvas, featuring muted tones of taupe suede and burgundy nubuck, with silver mesh underlays. The boot is lined with Gore-Tex technology and sits atop a blacked out midsole and outsole.”
Kan’s version of the Euro Hiker adds a designer-inspired flair to the typically rugged model, which Timberland introduced in 1988. It was intended for day hiking with a lightweight, sneaker-like build that made it more nimble than the brand’s heavier long-haul boots.
With more than 13 years of industry experience, Kan got his start as a footwear buyer at Kith before becoming a buyer a brand director at Teaneck, New Jersey retailer Packer, where he worked for eight years before his current ownership role at Third of June.
