The Haven x Timberland Field Boot GTX will be released this week.
Just weeks after Timberland introduced a new Gore-Tex and Vibram-enhanced version of its classic Field Boot with camouflage accents, the upgraded boot is getting a new limited-edition collaboration courtesy of Vancouver-based retailer Haven.
The Haven x Timberland Field Boot GTX takes inspiration from the landscape of British Columbia’s Black Tusk volcanic peak. This is executed through the use of varying shades of gray throughout the Field Boot’s upper, which combines a nubuck base with hairy suede overlays and a padded calf leather collar.
According to Haven, this mixed material combination not only adds texture, but represents the slopes of Black Tusk. And rather than simply finding inspiration in the volcanic pinnacle, Haven put boots on the ground by traveling to Black Tusk to shoot the shoe’s campaign.
Meanwhile, Timberland’s official product description says the boot is intended for the “cross-terrain explorer, from city streets to scenic trails.” The Field Boot’s hairy suede and gray palette give it a street style edge, while its Gore-Tex and Vibram upgrades make it perfectly capable of handling off-road terrain in unpredictable weather.
Timberland introduced the Field Boot in 1983 with the intention of balancing the rugged durability of an outdoor boot with the everyday comfort of a sneaker. The so-called “sneaker boot” hybrid — long before sneaker boots became a commonplace marketing ploy — caught on as an NYC staple in the 1990s with its iconic brown-and-green “beef and broccoli” colorway.
