Rosalía made time stop when she was spotted walking down the street in New York on Thursday. The Spanish singer stepped out in a look that had the internet losing it over her unusual ballet-inspired shoes and massive bag — one that could bring to mind HBO’s hit show “Succession.”
The Grammy winner kept her look understated while letting her accessories do all the talking. Starting with her shoes, she opted for a pair of Junko Shimada spring 2009 “I Feel Love” ballet platform heels. The shoes feature a satin pointe-shoe upper, a black platform sole and a transparent clear acrylic plexi wedge heel.
The Japanese fashion designer’s footwear creation reimagines the aesthetic of classical ballet pointe shoes, a style Rosalía is a noted fan of. The pale pink shoes feature a square toe, a dainty bow at the vamp, lace-up ribbon ties around the ankle, and with the addition of a transparent heel, which are still on trend nearly two decades later.
Meanwhile, on her shoulder, the “Malamente” singer carried a custom bag by Dana Toder, created for Lili Conzen’s upcoming short film, “Krähe,” which is currently in production. The massive, custom 3-foot-long leather duffel bag was created specifically as a prop for the movie. It is crafted from printed leather and features graphics based on imagery from another film by the director titled “Sabine.”
The hefty bag may have also brought to mind the phrase “ludicrously capacious bag” for the pop culture-savvy crowd. The quote originates from the “Succession” Season Four premiere where Tom Wambsgans (played by Matthew Macfadyen) mockingly criticizes a large Burberry check tote bag carried by Cousin Greg’s date.
