Pendleton Woolen Mills is entering branded resale with more than 200 pieces from its vault, including styles previously sold only in Japan and the U.K.
This week the Portland, Ore.-based heritage brand launched Pendleton Preloved, partnering with resale technology provider Archive on a peer-to-peer marketplace for its apparel, accessories and blankets. Customers can list their own pre-owned Pendleton products and buy directly from other sellers.
Pendleton told Sourcing Journal that the initial selection are individual overstock and sample items, none previously owned. The company cited Japan-exclusive pieces including a cropped flannel shirt priced at $50, a plaid jacket at $65 and Spingle Move high-top sneakers at $275. A cable-knit sweater previously sold only in the U.K. was priced at $40.
Pendleton said the marketplace builds on an existing community of collectors and vintage shoppers who gather in online groups to compare and date their pieces. Shoppers can browse vintage finds and past-season collections.
“For more than 160 years, Pendleton has made products designed to last and be passed down,” chief executive officer Jennifer Ingraffea said in a statement. “Pendleton Preloved is an extension of that legacy, celebrating the craftsmanship of our products and the stories they carry from one generation to the next.”
Sellers can receive 70 percent of the sale price in cash or the full amount as a Pendleton gift card, redeemable on the brand’s main website or in its stores.
