Nike and its Jordan Brand label have a number of new Halloween-themed sneaker releases on the way over the coming weeks, but the Beaverton, Ore.-based sportswear brand is also set to reissue a popular look from years past in the form of the Air Max Plus Spider Web.
The Nike Air Max Plus Spider Web was first released in 2020 and has become increasingly coveted and rare in the years since. The Black/Limelight/Black sneaker features a mostly black design that’s contrasted by gray TPU caging and accents.
But the arguable highlight of the style appears at its mudguard and heel, which have been covered in a spider web graphic. Similar to many of Nike’s Halloween sneakers, the seasonal style also includes glow-in-the-dark elements on its TPU overlays, branding and visible Air units.
The Air Max Plus was designed by Sean McDowell and first released in 1998, serving as an introduction to Nike’s latest cushioning breakthrough, Tuned Air. Its signature TPU overlays were inspired by palm trees that McDowell observed on vacation, which also informed the sneaker’s flagship orange and blue gradient colorways. The Air Max Plus quickly caught on as a street style favorite, embraced by a variety of subcultures globally, but it is perhaps most popular in Australia, where it’s affectionately known as the Nike TN.
Other upcoming Halloween-themed Nike, Inc. releases of note include the Air Jordan 5 Retro , a duo of “Scream”-inspired Air Force 1s , glow-in-the-dark Dunk Lows, werewolf-themed Air Force 1s for kids and new signature sneakers for stars including Caitlin Clark, Ja Morant and Devin Booker .
