Manulife promotes Andy Bruce to Chief Information Officer

Manulife has promoted Andy Bruce to Chief Information Officer of Manulife Asia, effective from the start of the month.

Bruce takes on the regional role after serving as Chief Information Officer for Hong Kong and Macau, where he led a major technology delivery portfolio for the insurer and financial services group.

In that role, he oversaw operational stability, risk management, modernisation projects and artificial intelligence initiatives. He also built partnerships across the business and the regional technology organisation.

Bruce will now lead technology for Manulife's Asia business as the company continues to invest in digital systems and expand the use of AI across its operations.

Asia is a key region for Manulife, which operates in 25 markets globally and serves more than 37 million customers. Headquartered in Toronto, the group operates under the Manulife brand in Canada and Asia, and mainly under the John Hancock brand in the United States.

At the end of 2025, it had more than 37,000 employees, over 106,000 agents and thousands of distribution partners worldwide. Its business spans financial advice, insurance, health products, investment solutions and retirement plan services.

The appointment is part of a broader effort to strengthen Manulife's technology and operations organisation in Asia, including simplifying internal systems and customer-facing services across the region.

Steve Finch, President & CEO of Manulife Asia, commented on the appointment.

"Andy is a proven technology leader with a strong track record of execution, innovation and talent development," said Steve Finch, President & CEO of Manulife Asia. "He combines deep knowledge of our business with the ability to turn strategy into meaningful outcomes.
