Tara Poseley, who led product at the athletics retailer from 2013 to 2015, is joining the board as part of the company’s agreement with founder Chip Wilson.
Lululemon is bringing back its former product chief, Tara Poseley, as a board member. The industry veteran, who served as chief product officer at Lululemon from 2013 to 2015, joined the board Monday, according to a company press release.
The appointment of Poseley is part of Lululemon’s settlement agreement with founder Chip Wilson earlier this year, after a long and public battle about leadership at the athletics brand. That cooperation deal allowed for Wilson to add two board members – former ESPN Chief Marketing Officer Laura Gentile and former On co-CEO Marc Maurer – and required Lululemon to name a director with apparel product and brand expertise by Oct. 1.
Poseley joins the board with more than 30 years of industry experience, including her time at Lululemon. Most recently, she was CEO of Paula’s Choice Skincare, but she also spent time at Kmart and Gap Inc.
“Tara brings deep product expertise and understands what makes Lululemon special,” Wilson said in a statement.
CEO Heidi O’Neill echoed those sentiments, saying Poseley will strengthen the brand’s product innovation and brand strategy chops.
“Her insights and guidance will be invaluable as we put product, design, and innovation at the center of how we operate to deliver on the company's next chapter of success,” O’Neill said in a statement.
The chief executive, who started a little over a month ago, recently overhauled the retailer’s C-suite and put Athleta CEO Maggie Gauger in charge of product.
