The Italian lighting firm and Anastassiades signed an agreement to produce pieces from the designer's personal label.
MILAN — Cypriot-born, London-based industrial designer Michael Anastassiades and Italian lighting-maker Flos are in it for the long term.
On Wednesday, the Bovezzo, Italy-based firm said they inked a partnership to integrate Anastassiades’ personal lighting portfolio into the Flos catalogue.
“Since its start in 2011, my collaboration with Flos has become an important part of my practice as a lighting designer. Now it feels like a natural progression that the pieces I have developed under my own name over the past 20 years will continue with Flos,” he said. Anastassiades is mostly known for his lighting but also designs furniture for Danish furniture firm Fritz Hansen.
Since embarking on a creative collaboration with Flos over 10 years ago, Anastassiades has enhanced their lineup with iconic lamps like the IC Lights and Captain Flint, as well as the My Circuit flexible track system. His own label is known for its upbeat creations like the Kandinsky-esque Mobile chandelier that comes together in an abstract punctuation of pin-thin rods. Artists, movements and innovators are often looked to for inspiration: his modular, kite-inspired sculptural lighting collection Cygnet was inspired by telephone inventor Alexander Graham Bell’s pyramid-shape tetrahedron cell. The Frame suspension grid lamp was influenced by the work of American painter and sculptor Ellsworth Kelly and French painter Marcel Duchamp.
For the fall 2026 sales campaign, Flos incorporated three iconic models from the Michael Anastassiades portfolio: the Tip of the Tongue table lamp, Relay, a refined floor lamp with essential lines, and Frame.
