This marks the brand's second Brooklyn location and its ninth across the New York City area.
Madewell has opened the doors of its second Brooklyn store, the company revealed on Wednesday.
Located in Brooklyn’s Cobble Hill area on 51 Bergen Street, the 4,500-square-foot space is on the ground floor of the historic building that was originally constructed as a horse-drawn carriage factory during 1800s and later functioned as a belt factory.
The restoration of the space includes timber post-and-beam columns and a tongue-and-groove wood ceiling. With its open and loft-like floor plan, the space preserves the original character of the space to merge the historic charm of the area with Madewell’s continued commitment to craftsmanship and quality.
The brick-and-mortar features the brand’s latest offerings for menswear and womenswear. A dedicated men’s shop has custom fixtures and furnishings, taking inspiration from traditional woodworking and the brand’s workwear heritage.
“We’re excited to bring Madewell to Cobble Hill with a new store that reflects the latest expression of our brand across both men’s and women’s,” Garrett Putney, senior vice president of Madewell Stores, told WWD. “Housed in a historic building that retains its original architectural character, Cobble Hill embodies so much of what we love about New York. We look forward to welcoming local residents and visitors alike into our new store, creating a space where they can experience the brand, discover their next favorite pair of jeans and connect with the Madewell community.”
As part of the brand’s opening celebration with activations held on Saturday and Sunday, Madewell is offering consumers an exclusive Madewell Cobble Hill denim tote, New York -inspired patches with customization from Eva Joan and live illustrated portraits by artist Georgia Carey.
