The project, supported by the brand and Sanjiangyuan National Park Administration, was first launched in 2023.
Canada Goose is raising awareness around wildlife conservation in China with a new documentary about a wildlife patrol team at Sanjiangyuan, one of the country’s most diverse wildlife regions on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
The project, which supports biodiversity conservation and sustainable community development, is backed by Canada Goose and Sanjiangyuan National Park Administration and forged in partnership with Shan Shui Conservation Center.
“Our work in Sanjiangyuan reflects our belief that the people closest to a landscape are often its most important stewards,” said Carrie Baker, president of brand and commercial at Canada Goose.
“Through partnerships like this, we’re supporting community-led conservation, investing in the people and communities helping protect these landscapes, and creating opportunities for people and nature to thrive together.”
Now entering its fourth year, the Sanjiangyuan Community Engagement and Nature Experience Public Welfare Project has become Canada Goose’s flagship environmental and community engagement initiative in China and the brand’s first large-scale project of its kind outside Canada.
The Yangtze River Source area of Sanjiangyuan National Park encompasses diverse landscapes ranging from mountains to grasslands and glaciers. Among the protected species are snow leopards, kiangs, Pallas’s cats, lynx, TIbetan brown bears, Tibetan foxes and more.
In the third year of documenting the conservation effort and the human-interest stories behind it, Canada Goose worked with Banff China to produce this year’s “Snow Leopard Patrol” documentary.
The documentary centered around the 17-person “Snow Leopard Patrol” team, which welcomed its first female patroller this year, alongside a diverse host of members, including a deaf patrol member and one who lives in financially difficult circumstances.
