“You can’t cry on a diamond’s shoulder, and diamonds won’t keep you warm at night, but they’re sure fun when the sun shines,” Elizabeth Taylor once said, illustrating her lifelong love affair with sparkly objects and penchant for engagement rings in particular (she received eight in total from her 10 fiancés).
Spanning antique diamond tiaras, ruby necklaces, emerald brooches, and gem-encrusted earrings, Taylor’s jewelry equations seemed, for the longest time, inimitable at best and inaccessible at worst: considering the baffling price tags Christie’s attached to her treasured pieces on the auction block. Taylor’s private jewelry collection, one of the most built-out and renowned in history, sold for a record-breaking $137 million in 2011, the year of her death.
But Brilliant Earth, a direct-to-consumer fine jewelry brand known for its ethical sourcing methods, sustainability, and transparency, is here to change all that — bringing you one diamond strand and one cocktail ring closer to the Old Hollywood legend.
On September 24, Brilliant Earth unveiled a limited-edition jewelry collaboration with the Elizabeth Taylor Estate, centered on three motifs — each of which is “inspired by a different facet of Taylor,” per the company.
This comes on the heels of Brilliant Earth becoming the official, exclusive fine jewelry partner of the estate and the House of Taylor .
