Taiwanese floating solar float manufacturer Suntoward said it will open its first operational site in the Philippines, leasing more than 3,800 square meters at the ALogis Mabalacat 1 warehouse in Pampanga Technopark from developer AyalaLand Logistics Holdings Corp. (ALLHC).
The company’s local unit, Suntoward Tech Philippine Inc., will make high-density polyethylene (HDPE) floats, support structures and mounting hardware for floating PV systems using blow- and injection-molding processes, starting in the first quarter of 2027. It plans to supply floats, walkway modules and mooring components to developers, EPC contractors and industrial clients in the Philippines and abroad, according to ALLHC.
Suntoward has also signed a long-term lease for an 8,200-square-meter industrial lot at Batangas Technopark for future expansion. Neither company disclosed production capacity or the size of the investment.
“This investment allows us to bring our manufacturing capabilities closer to key renewable energy projects in the region,” said Suntoward President Jack Wang.
Floating solar projects secured more than 2.2 GW in the Philippines’ fourth green energy auction (GEA-4), at a ceiling price of PHP 6.5258/kWh, with several of the awarded projects located on Laguna de Bay, the country’s largest lake. The Department of Energy’s seventh auction will also include floating solar, including capacity left unsubscribed in GEA-4.
The Philippines had 3,892 MW of cumulative solar capacity at the end of 2025, after adding 899 MW of PV during the year. Acen, the renewables arm of the Ayala group, of which ALLHC is also part, has planned 1 GW of floating PV on Laguna Lake, where it signed an agreement with the Laguna Lake Development Authority in 2023 to lease 800 hectares.
