Gee Whiz Ma, Elon Musk Gave Me One Share In SpaceX, Isn’t He Great!

If SpaceX CEO Elon Musk can’t buy the mid-term elections on behalf of the Republican Party, it’s not for lack of trying. In the latest effort, Musk has just issued a bribe to parents across the US, in the form of one share of SpaceX stock gifted to each of their kids, with plenty more where that came from. Presumably that includes minors in the US who are here without legal status. That’s quite a reversal for a the world’s richest man, who has hitched his political fortunes to anti-immigrant, white supremacist extremism. Whoa if true…

Don’t just take my word for it. “Next year, I will give one of my SpaceX shares to every kid in America,” Musk wrote on X earlier today, as cited by CNN

But, don’t get too excited just yet. In the message, Musk bandied words about in the loosest sense possible. “Every kid in America” most likely excludes all the kids in the Canadian part of North America, let alone all the kids in Central and South America, so it stands to reason that not all kids in the United States of America will actually get their hands on a share of SpaceX stock, too.

CNN reporter Anna Cooban was among those suggesting that the message was merely another in a long string of high profile publicity stunts, akin to last week’s “flying car” gimmick . “Musk’s proposal was thin on detail. It is not clear how those shares would be distributed to the tens of millions of American children or whether all of them would even be eligible ,” Cooban observes (emphasis added).
