Rooftop solar installations increasingly incorporate power optimizers, microinverters and other components that require additional space beneath the modules.
Developed by S-5!, the PVKIT 3.0 mounting solution addresses this need by providing additional clearance for cable routing, module-level power electronics (MLPE) and access to wiring. The standard configuration allows modules to be installed closer to the roof surface when additional clearance is not required.
“The PVKIT 3.0 was designed to give designers and installers greater control over the gap between the roof and the solar panels,” said Rob Haddock, CEO and founder of S-5!. “The choice between a standard configuration and an integrated 50 mm clearance makes it easier to accommodate various wiring, electronic component, and related equipment needs—all while maintaining the simplicity of a rail-less mounting system.”
Backed by a lifetime warranty, the PVKIT 3.0 works with S-5! clamps and brackets to form a complete DirectAttach mounting system for metal roofs. On standing-seam and concealed-fastener roofs, the system provides non-penetrating attachment without compromising roof integrity, according to the manufacturer.
The standard configuration is compatible with PV modules featuring frame thicknesses of 28 mm to 35 mm, while the integrated clearance option accommodates frames ranging from 25 mm to 35 mm.
0 reduces mounting system weight, volume and carbon footprint by up to 85% compared with conventional rail-based systems, while requiring significantly fewer components. The company also claims a 25% reduction in load distribution, with the rail-less design eliminating the need for on-site rail cutting, potentially reducing transportation and logistics costs.
