Residual Carbon is launching a new Buyer Portal that gives prospective customers a single place to screen, price and compare the company’s carbon removal projects before committing time to a full data room review.
The New York-based developer, founded by executives from carbon ratings agency BeZero and carbon insurer Oka, said Tuesday that 25 of the top buyers in the market have already subscribed, including technology companies, banks, consultancies and commodities houses.
The company says its portal is designed to move due diligence earlier in the purchasing process, giving prospective customers access to commercial terms, delivery schedules, project risks and supporting evidence before entering a full data room review.
That push comes as carbon removal demand expands beyond a handful of early corporate adopters. CDR.fyi reported that 2.3 million tonnes of durable carbon removal were contracted in the first quarter of 2026, with more than 113 purchasers accounting for 1.3 million tonnes outside Microsoft’s deal.
The broader market is also becoming more focused on procurement infrastructure. The European Commission’s 2026 Buyers Club, for example, is intended to bring buyers and suppliers together while developing shared diligence tools and standardized contracting practices.
Residual says its portal goes beyond project descriptions by publishing commercial terms that developers often disclose later in negotiations. Buyers can model larger purchases, compare available vintages and calculate blended portfolio costs.
“We spent years on the diligence side of the table, so we know where the time goes,” said Dr. Laura Fritsch, Co-Founder of Residual.
The company also provides its own assessment of unresolved project risks and planned mitigations.
