Japan-based Panasonic has introduced the Aquarea High-Performance N Series, a new range of air-to-water heat pumps designed for residential heating and domestic hot water production.
The systems use R454C refrigerant, which has a global warming potential (GWP) of 148. “Built around the next-generation R454C refrigerant, the new range gives installers a compact and adaptable solution suited to a wide variety of residential projects, from detached houses to multi-family apartment buildings,” the company said in a statement.
The new series comprises four models with heating capacities of 3 kW, 5 kW, 7 kW and 9 kW. The units feature a refrigerant-split configuration, with the indoor and outdoor units connected by refrigerant piping. Panasonic said the systems support piping lengths of up to 50 m and elevation differences of up to 30 m, allowing installation in different residential building configurations.
The range includes a compact all-in-one indoor unit measuring 1,575 mm in height, with a footprint of 599 mm × 602 mm. The manufacturer said the reduced dimensions are intended to simplify installation in properties with limited indoor space.
The heat pumps are designed to operate at outdoor temperatures as low as -25 C, according to Panasonic. The 5 kW model reportedly has an outdoor sound power level of 58 dB(A).
The systems also feature integrated connectivity for remote operation and maintenance through Panasonic’s cloud-based control platforms.
According to the manufacturer, the heat pumps achieve energy efficiency ratings of up to A+++ at a water flow temperature of 35 C and A++ at 55 C.
