Allied Facility Partners, a design-build and performance contracting firm serving K-12, municipal and public-sector organizations across Illinois and Wisconsin, has completed a districtwide rooftop solar project for Cary Community Consolidated School District 26 in Illinois.
The completed project includes rooftop solar installations at three district facilities, with a combined system capacity of 843 kW. The systems are expected to generate approximately 990,654 kWh annually, offsetting an estimated 55% of those facilities’ electricity consumption.
“This project represents a significant long-term investment in the future of Cary School District 26. By combining the solar installations with our ongoing roof and facility improvements, we are improving the efficiency and sustainability of our buildings while being responsible stewards of district resources,” said David Martin, Operations Coordinator for Cary School District 26. “We are also excited about the educational opportunity this project provides, giving our students and staff the chance to see renewable energy in action and better understand its impact on our community.”
The solar arrays consist of 1,429 solar modules and seven inverters. The project included final system design, structural engineering, utility interconnection, permitting, equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, staff training and cloud-based performance monitoring.
As part of the project, Allied coordinated renewable energy credit applications, utility incentive programs, and other available funding opportunities to help maximize the district’s return on investment. The project also includes a public-facing energy dashboard that provides real-time visibility into solar production and system performance.
The project was delivered through a Guaranteed Energy Savings Contract (GESC), allowing the district to implement comprehensive energy improvements while using projected energy and operational savings to support the investment over time.
