Gulf Cryo Expands Industrial CCUS Footprint Across UAE Market Ahead Of ADIPEC 2026

Regional industrial gas provider Gulf Cryo announced that its new carbon capture and utilization (CCU) facility in Abu Dhabi will enter commercial operation within weeks.

The upcoming asset complements Gulf Cryo’s existing carbon capture facility in Ras Al Khaimah, reinforcing the UAE as the company’s primary regional growth market for industrial decarbonization.

The facility will capture, purify, and liquefy industrial emissions to supply merchant CO2 for local food preservation, beverage carbonation, and municipal water desalination applications.

Middle Eastern industrial gases supplier Gulf Cryo has announced that its new carbon capture facility in Abu Dhabi will begin commercial operations within weeks.

Speaking at ADIPEC 2026 , Gulf Cryo Chief Commercial Officer Georgios Beretsos confirmed that the Abu Dhabi site will expand the firm’s domestic decarbonization infrastructure, joining its operational carbon capture plant in Ras Al Khaimah. The UAE remains Gulf Cryo’s largest market, supported by decades of industrial gas supply across petrochemicals, healthcare, metals, manufacturing, and oil and gas operations.

The project forms part of Gulf Cryo’s strategy to expand point-source carbon capture and utilization (CCU) across heavy industries in the Middle East, converting industrial flue gases into high-purity commercial feedstocks.

The Abu Dhabi facility will focus on capturing, purifying, and liquefying industrial point-source emissions for supply into local circular economy markets.

Key target offtake sectors include regional food and beverage processors requiring food-grade liquid CO2, alongside municipal water desalination plants using CO2 for water remineralization.

Beretsos emphasized that supply chain disruptions experienced in recent years have highlighted the need for localized manufacturing, resilient gas distribution networks, and customer proximity.
