EY Teams Up With Watershed On Corporate Emissions Reporting

EY has formed an alliance with Watershed to help companies improve emissions measurement and sustainability disclosures as they respond to regulatory requirements and expectations from customers and investors.

Announced Monday, the partnership brings together Watershed’s AI-powered sustainability platform and the advisory and implementation capabilities of Ernst & Young LLP in the U.S. The companies aim to help organizations collect and assess environmental data, produce reports and plan decarbonization efforts.

Measuring greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across business operations and supply chains can involve complex data and methodologies. The alliance will offer support across the process, from data collection and emissions calculations to reporting, product carbon footprinting and sustainability planning.

The companies said their services will cover Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, which account for different sources of GHG emissions associated with an organization. The offering is designed to provide audit-ready data, automate calculations and support sustainability reporting at scale.

EY will contribute sustainability advice, program management and implementation expertise. Watershed will provide the technology platform for managing climate and environmental, social and governance data, generating reports and identifying options to reduce emissions.

The companies said the combined services are intended to help organizations strengthen regulatory preparedness while making sustainability information more useful for operational decisions.

According to Derek Przybylo, EY-Watershed Alliance leader at EY US, the partnership will help clients turn sustainability objectives into measurable action through stronger emissions data and automated reporting.

Watershed Chief Executive Christian Anderson said sustainability work is likely to become more automated and focused on action, with insights supporting operational efficiency and resilience as well as disclosure requirements.
