EcoFlow, known for portable power solutions and an expanding residential focus, has launched two new series of portable power stations.
The Delta Gen4 and River Gen4 are both evolutions of well-known portable and backup power offerings, with EcoFlow seeking to shake up its design language, package into smaller volumes with weight reductions, and reduce power consumption.
The new models in the Delta Gen 4 series are the Delta 3800 Gen4 and 3000 Gen4, with the model numbers correlating to storage capacity: the 3800 Gen4 offers 3763 Wh (3.7 kWh), and the 3000 Gen4 offers 3072 Wh.
Both new Delta Gen4 models deliver 3.6 kW rated AC output and 7.2 kW surge power for heavy startup inrush currents. The Delta 3000 Gen4 has four charging methods, including AC, generator, solar PV, and alternator car charger, while Delta 3800 has six, adding solar plus alternator charging and solar plus generator.
In terms of weight, the 3800 Gen4 weighs 67.5 lbs or 30.6 kg, while DELTA 3000 Gen4 weighs 57.3 lbs or almost 26 kg.
EcoFlow claims both are the smallest and lightest portable power stations in their classes by capacity per pound.
This is slightly apples and oranges: based solely on spec sheets, the Anker S5000, with 5,024 Wh at 97 lbs, offers 51.8 Wh per pound, compared with EcoFlow’s best density at 3763 Wh at 67.5 lbs, or 55.7 Wh per pound.
However the ESS News deep dive review of the S5000 did commend the unit for coming with wheels, along with a telescopic handle for portability.
