Austria’s Renewable Energy Expansion Act (EAG) funding agency has published the results of the country’s third auction for solar PV market premiums in 2026. Successful bids ranged from €0.054/kWh to €0.0725/kWh, with a volume-weighted average of €0.0642/kWh, slightly higher than in the second auction round.
The auction offered 172.6 MW of solar capacity, but ultimately awarded 173.4 MW across 195 successful bids. The EAG funding agency did not disclose the level of oversubscription.
The bidding round closed on Sept. 24, 2026. Unsuccessful applicants can submit new bids in future auctions, although no further dates have been announced.
Austria’s solar market premium auctions are open to new ground-mounted and rooftop PV installations, as well as extensions of existing systems, with capacities exceeding 10 kW. Projects must not have been commissioned at the time of bidding. Ground-mounted installations on agricultural land or grassland are subject to a reduction of up to 25% in their applicable bid value, a measure designed to favor rooftop PV projects.
Austria’s second solar market premium auction, which closed on June 11, 2026, offered 179 MW of capacity. The EAG funding agency awarded contracts on July 10, with successful bids reaching a maximum of €0.0669/kWh. The ceiling was lower than the highest successful bid of €0.0725/kWh recorded in the third round, indicating an increase in the upper end of accepted bid prices.
97 MW against an offered volume of 175 MW. 0642/kWh recorded in the third auction.
