Report: Apple captured half of global smartphone revenue in Q3

According to a new report from Counterpoint Research, Apple just recorded its highest-ever global smartphone revenue for a third calendar quarter. Here are the details.

In a report released earlier this week, Counterpoint Research mapped out the global smartphone market’s performance during the third quarter, which saw Apple capture its highest-ever share of industry revenue for the period.

Samsung, which came in second, accounted for 19% of global smartphone revenue, followed by Xiaomi at 6%, OPPO at 5%, and vivo at 4%.

In another record, Counterpoint says Apple saw the iPhone average selling price (ASP) hit an all-time-high of $1,031, up 19% year-over-year.

Counterpoint’s Research Director Tarun Pathak explained that the iPhone 18 Pro series contributed to Apple’s ASP growth, despite launching toward the end of the third calendar quarter:

“Apple remained the most resilient major brand in Q3 2026, with shipments nearly flat YoY. Apple has the pricing power to absorb rising memory costs and pass them on to consumers with minimal impact on demand. At the same time, ASP growth was supported by higher launch prices for the iPhone 18 Pro series, the absence of the base iPhone 18 from the launch and price increases across older models in September. Together, these factors helped Apple deliver strong revenue growth in an otherwise challenging market.”

Finally, the report noted that while Samsung still led the market in shipment share, its lead over Apple narrowed slightly, with the companies accounting for 22% and 21% of global smartphone shipments, respectively.
