Apple Podcasts will soon let creators offer exclusive videos to subscribers

Apple announced this week that creators will soon be able to offer video through Apple Podcasts Subscriptions, “including subscriber-exclusive episodes, ad-free video, early access, and bonus content.” Here are the details.

Back in 2021, Apple announced Apple Podcasts Subscriptions. This service lets creators offer paid subscriptions to their shows in exchange for perks such as ad-free listening, bonus episodes, early access, and subscriber-only content.

Since then, creators have been able to offer paid subscriptions through Apple Podcasts to listeners in more than 170 countries and regions.

With the podcast market increasingly shifting toward video, Apple has been expanding the format across its platform.

Earlier this year, Apple introduced a new HLS-based video podcast experience that lets users seamlessly switch between watching and listening, view episodes full-screen, download videos for offline viewing, and more.

More recently, with iOS 27 and its other software updates, Apple expanded video support in Apple Podcasts with features including read-along transcripts, chapters, media links, and playback on Mac and Apple TV.

Now, Apple has announced that video is coming to Apple Podcasts Subscriptions as well.

This means creators will be able to offer subscriber-exclusive video episodes, ad-free video, early access, and bonus video content through the same subscription system currently used for premium audio.

Since Apple Podcasts Subscriptions launched, creators have built direct-to-listener businesses around premium audio. Adding video opens new opportunities for you to connect with your audiences and grow your business.

Apple says it is currently working with hosting providers to make this integration seamless and will share more details “in the coming months.”
