Mistral and Nvidia want to speed up industrial design with physics AI

Mistral and Nvidia are teaming up to speed up engineering simulations and industrial product design with AI. According to Mistral's announcement, the partners will combine the language model Mistral Large 4 and Mistral's physics AI with Nvidia's CUDA-X and Warp software libraries and Omniverse for 3D simulations. The goal is to link design, simulation, and AI training in one continuous workflow for industries like aerospace, automotive, and semiconductors.

The companies also plan to release public benchmarks and open datasets for testing and comparing physics models and AI agents that work with engineering software. The two previously built Mistral NeMo together, and they're working on an open foundation model as part of the Nemotron Coalition. Mistral Large 4 has about one trillion parameters and was trained on 3,800 Grace Blackwell GPUs in Europe. It's set to ship as an open-weight model in late October. Mistral wants to expand its computing capacity to one gigawatt by 2030.
