Volvo Cars said it is widening its NVIDIA partnership to bring Hyperion, Halos and Alpamayo into future cars for safer automated driving.
Volvo Cars said on 15 October 2026 that it is expanding its partnership with NVIDIA to develop safer automated-driving technology for future vehicles, extending a collaboration that the company said began in 2017. The announcement said the technology is intended to support door-to-door navigation in complex environments, including highways, busy urban streets and parking scenarios, and will debut in a next-generation Volvo car.
In the joint announcement, Volvo Cars said the system will combine its vehicle-safety expertise with NVIDIA's AI and accelerated-computing stack, including the Hyperion sensor and compute architecture, Halos OS and Alpamayo Stack driving software. Volvo said the aim is to introduce eyes-off and mind-off driving gradually, while setting a new benchmark for automated driving that is safe, convenient and worthy of customer trust.
He5kan Samuelsson, president and chief executive of Volvo Cars, said in the release that Volvo has been "synonymous with car safety for almost 100 years" and that working with NVIDIA combines "industry-leading safety knowledge and world-class AI technology." NVIDIA founder and chief executive Jensen Huang said accelerated computing has turned the car into an intelligent machine that can understand the world around it, adding that the companies are combining Volvo's safety systems with NVIDIA Hyperion and Halos to build a new generation of cars that make driving safer and more effortless.
The announcement is the latest in a sequence of Volvo-NVIDIA collaborations.
