HKMA hosts fifth Global Financial Leaders’ Investment Summit

HKMA said about 280 financial leaders attended the fifth Global Financial Leaders’ Investment Summit, with a closing forum due on Nov. 4.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority said the main session of its fifth Global Financial Leaders’ Investment Summit concluded on 3 November, bringing together about 280 global financial leaders as Hong Kong continued to position itself as a forum for international finance.

According to the HKMA’s 3 November release, the event included around 120 group chairpersons and chief executive officers, with participants drawn from banks, securities firms, asset owners, asset managers, private equity and venture capital firms, hedge funds and insurers. The summit carried the theme “Rethinking the Playbook” and included an opening keynote by Mr He Lifeng, Vice Premier of the State Council, delivered by video, the HKMA said.

The authority said discussions covered macroeconomic trends, financial market shifts and technological advances, with panels examining how risks and resilience are changing across sectors, asset classes and geographies. HKMA Chief Executive Eddie Yue said the summit was “the fifth consecutive year of the Summit,” adding that it served as a platform to foster high-level dialogue and deepen ties across the global financial community. He also said participants were able to see first-hand how Hong Kong is re-thinking its playbook to transform the economy through innovation and technology, and how it continues to strengthen its position as an international financial centre.

The three-day programme began with a welcome dinner at The Henderson on 2 November and was scheduled to conclude on 4 November with the “Conversations with Global Investors” investment forum, co-organised by the HKMA, the Securities and Futures Commission and the Hong Kong Academy of Finance.
