Uptop's Avalanche-based rewards model is transforming fan engagement for Michigan, LSU, Penn State, and more, offering new monetization and sponsorship channels.
Six Division 1 college athletics programs, including Michigan, LSU, and Penn State, have adopted Uptop's blockchain-powered fan engagement model built on Avalanche (AVAX). The initiative, dubbed "Signing Day," signals a shift in how colleges monetize fan relationships while offering sponsors new data-driven opportunities.
Uptop’s platform enables schools to create branded rewards systems where fans earn points for attending games, making purchases, and interacting with their favorite teams. These points can be redeemed for tickets, merchandise, and exclusive experiences. By leveraging Avalanche’s blockchain technology, these programs also generate first-party data that athletic departments can use to better understand their audiences and optimize sponsorship opportunities.
Michigan, Penn State, LSU, Baylor, Memphis, and Nevada are rolling out fan rewards programs tailored to their brands. Michigan’s Wolverine Rewards, for instance, creates a unified digital fan identity across all sports, helping the university track engagement and strengthen connections with its most loyal supporters. Meanwhile, Baylor’s Baylor Bears Perks focuses on integrating sponsor partnerships, allowing fans to earn points through sponsor interactions and redeem them for perks.
For sponsors, this centralized infrastructure offers a new way to engage fans beyond traditional advertising. Memphis’s GoTigersGo Rewards and Penn State’s Penn State Rewards demonstrate how these programs create measurable touchpoints for brands while extending engagement beyond game days.
Uptop selected Avalanche as the underlying blockchain for its scalability, low transaction costs, and ability to abstract crypto complexities for mainstream users.
