Fireblocks cites 196 million x402 transactions, $42 million settled and a sharp shift from speculative bot churn to lower-volume usage.
Agentic commerce is moving onto enterprise roadmaps, but the payment data remain difficult to interpret, according to Fireblocks' Nov. 3, 2026 analysis. The report says x402 has processed more than 196 million transactions across 12 chains and settled more than $42 million since launch, while also warning that public blockchain records blend routine automation, speculative bot activity and genuine agentic spend.
Fireblocks, citing agenteconomy.to and Chainalysis observations, said more than half of x402's lifetime transactions came during a two-month burst in late 2025 tied to PING, a token minted through x402. In November 2025, volume reached a record $20.5 million across 52.6 million transactions. By December, settled value had fallen to $9.4 million even as transaction counts rose to 54.2 million, reflecting low-cost loops on Base rather than sustained economic usage, the report said.
The analysis said the post-speculation baseline is lower but more stable. Monthly x402 transactions fell 92% from the December peak and have since held between 4 million and 6 million, apart from a brief surge in August and early September. Fireblocks said the latest full month in October 2026 saw 5.1 million transactions worth $274,000.
Fireblocks said the less noisy period shows signs of operational use. According to Chainalysis data cited in the report, the median time from wallet funding to first x402 payment fell from 73 days in late 2025 to 18 minutes in Q3 2026, and two in three new wallets spent within an hour of funding.
