Türkiye will try to bounce back from three straight defeats, including one at the hands of its opponent today, Italy.
Two former Sampdoria teammates will look to outdo each other once more on Monday as Roberto Mancini’s Italy takes on Vincenzo Montella’s Türkiye in this Group A1 UEFA Nations League clash in Bologna.
The two former strikers formed a deadly partnership up front for Sven-Göran Eriksson’s legendary I Blucerchiati lineup in the 1990s. Now, though, they face each other as opposing national-team coaches for the second time during this international window.
Mancini’s Italy kicked off the window in the worst possible way, with an abject 2-0 home defeat to Belgium. The Azzuri have bounced back in some style, however, with a dominant 4-1 away win over Montella’s men, followed by a battling 1-1 draw against France in Paris.
Montella, meanwhile, will be looking to lift his players after a demoralizing window that has seen them slump to three straight defeats. Their earlier loss to Italy was sandwiched between defeats to France and Belgium.
Italy hosts Türkiye at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara in Bologna on Monday, Oct. 5. Kickoff is set for 8:45 p.m. CEST local time in Italy, which is 7:45 p.m. BST in the UK. That’s a 2:45 p.m. ET or 11:45 a.m. PT kickoff in the US and Canada, and a 4:45 a.m. AEST start on Tuesday in Australia.
Monday’s game is on Fox Sports 2. If you don’t have the channel in your cable lineup, there are several online alternatives.
