Video doorbells, security cameras, smart lights and more are steeply discounted as Prime Day crests the horizon.

I’ve spent a lot of time over the last year testing smart home and home security devices. Amazon’s October Prime Day sale is an excellent time to invest in these easy upgrades to help your home. From video doorbells to smart locks to security cameras and lighting, it’s never been more affordable to upgrade your home.

The official Prime Day event is just around the corner, and the early deals are already rolling in. The CNET deals team and I will be adding new smart home deals throughout the event, so keep your eye on this page if you’re still trying to decide.

Blink’s security devices are affordable in any case, but they’re especially affordable during Prime events. I just tested this new wireless doorbell on my porch, and one of the best budget models I’ve ever tried, providing reliable 2K resolution views of your front yard and anyone making a delivery or showing up unexpectedly.

This doorbell includes two-way audio, and you get person detection for free, so it’s a strong option if you want to avoid subscriptions (there are subscriptions for cloud video storage and more complex AI features if you want to splurge a few extra dollars per month). However, I highly suggest bundling this extra-affordable camera with the Sync Module, which you’ll need to connect to Wi-Fi, or a larger Blink Module that can handle local video storage, too.
