Bengaluru-based NuSynth Technologies has raised ₹36.5 Cr (about $4 Mn) in a seed funding round co-led by Avaana Capital and Shastra VC.
The startup will use the fresh capital to strengthen its R&D and technology capabilities, develop an initial portfolio of proprietary chemical processes, build scale-up capabilities, and expand its team.
Founded in 2026 by Poorvank Purohit, Ramesha A R, Abhishek Deo and Dipak Bajaj, NuSynth combines chemical R&D with AI to develop alternative processes for making complex chemicals, initially focusing on pharmaceuticals and electronics chemicals.
The startup aims to address challenges associated with conventional chemical synthesis, including complex, multi-step processes, high material and energy costs, dependence on imported intermediates, and the use of hazardous reagents.
To address these challenges, NuSynth re-evaluates starting materials, reaction pathways, and process economics. According to Avaana Capital, its processes seek to reduce reaction steps, eliminate hazardous reagents, lower temperature requirements, and replace solvent-intensive processes with catalytic and water-based alternatives.
NuSynth follows an asset-light manufacturing model, working with Indian manufacturing partners to translate its laboratory research into industrial-scale production, the investor said.
Supporting this work is an R&D platform that combines predictive synthesis models with an AI-enabled engine. The startup said the engine converts experimental data from each R&D cycle into a proprietary knowledge base to accelerate future molecule selection, experimentation, and commercial scale-up.
“At NuSynth, we are going back to first principles – questioning established routes, redesigning processes and engineering them for commercial scale from day one. Our ambition is to build proprietary processes from India that can deliver superior economics and sustainability, and serve customers across global markets,” Purohit said.
