Can the Red Devils ease the pressure on beleaguered boss Michael Carrick?
Manchester United boss Michael Carrick will be desperate for his team to end a worrying run of losses on Sunday, as the Red Devils face a Bournemouth team that will be buoyed after claiming a historic result in Europe in midweek.
Last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Leeds was enough to prevent the history books from recording United’s start to the season as being their worst to an English top-flight campaign in 30 years. Speculation surrounding Carrick’s future as Red Devils boss intensified following Wednesday’s abject 4-1 defeat away to Como in the UEFA Champions League, prompting skipper Bruno Fernandes to openly criticize his manager’s tactics.
Looking to further extend its hosts’ miserable form is a Bournemouth team that registered one of the biggest results in the club’s 127-year history on Thursday, beating Italian giant AC Milan 3-1 at home in the UEFA Europa League. That win preserved the Cherries’ perfect start to their European campaign, while also extending their winning run across all competitions to three matches.
Manchester United takes on AFC Bournemouth on Sunday, Oct. 25, at Old Trafford, with kickoff set for 2 p.m. GMT. That makes it a 10 a.m. ET or 7 a.m. PT start in the US and Canada, and a 1 a.m. AEDT kickoff in Australia early on Monday morning.
Today’s match at Old Trafford will be broadcast on Peacock and NBC Sports Network. You will need a subscription to Peacock Premium or Premium Plus.
