Policybazaar parent PB Fintech net profit rises 43% rise in Q2

PB Fintech, the parent company of digital insurance platform Policybazaar and credit aggregator platform Paisabazaar, reported a 42.5% rise in net profit for the second quarter of FY27 while revenue rose by 35% in the same period.

PB Fintech reported a net profit of Rs 192.4 crore in the second quarter of FY27 as compared to Rs 135 crore in the similar period of last fiscal. The revenues for the second quarter came in at Rs 2177.7 crore.

According to the company, it recorded a total insurance premium of Rs 9,385 crore for the second quarter which was a 38% year-on-year (YoY) growth. The core online insurance premium business grew 42% YoY and new health insurance premium rose by 46% YoY. The total lending disbursal by PB Fintech in the second quarter stood at Rs 4,739 crore.

The company has around 5.5 lakh insurance advisors, which grew by 1.3 lakh during the quarter. According to the company, these distributors helped expand insurance access across smaller towns and cities, which contributed to 76 percent of overall gross written premium for the quarter.

This performance comes in the backdrop of Insurance Regulatory Development Authority (IRDA) proposal to lower the commissions earned by insurance agents and this could have an impact on the overall growth trajectory of PB Fintech.

On leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) in its operations, the company said it has 10 crore customer interactions every day. Around 21 lakh calls are processed daily which are 100% AI processed where the talk time exceeds 60 seconds across 7 Indian languages.
