One of the Year’s Most Underrated Monster Movies Comes Home Soon

Usually, if a movie about killer dinosaurs with a few major movie stars is released over the summer, it’s a huge deal. Who doesn’t love movie stars and dinosaurs? Well, this summer, a movie fitting that description came out, was actually pretty great, but it didn’t really make a bunch of noise. Thankfully, if you missed it, your time is almost here.

The movie is called The End of Oak Street, and after hitting theaters in August, it’s coming to HBO Max on November 13. Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway star as a married couple who, one day, find their entire neighborhood transported millions of years into the past, forcing them to fight and survive a bunch of dinosaurs.

If you’re reading this website, you probably already knew that, but considering the film only made $55 million in the U.S., many, many people did not.

David Robert Mitchell, who wrote and directed It Follows, made the film with the help of producer J.J. Abrams. And the movie is exactly what you’d expect from those two. Very weird, very entertaining, and just the right amount of scary.

We reviewed the film when it came out and really liked it, for the most part, and even did a deep dive into its satisfying but oddly familiar ending. You can read those at those links.

But, for now, the main thing is that you no longer have to pay to see the film, as long as you’re an HBO Max subscriber.
