One of the Year’s Most Acclaimed Movies (That You Probably Missed) Is Coming Home

Sometimes, not even critical and audience love can translate into a worthy movie becoming a box-office hit. But there’s always a chance it’ll find a second life in its home release. That’s the hopeful scenario for Forgotten Island, an animated adventure inspired by Philippine mythology that arrives on digital October 27, ahead of a physical release on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on December 1.

If you peek at Forgotten Island‘s Rotten Tomatoes page, you’ll see very high ratings across the board, with praise for both its story and its stunning visuals. Here’s the official synopsis, courtesy of a DreamWorks Animation press release.

“On their last night before embarking on separate life paths, best friends Jo and Raissa find a mysterious portal that transports them to Nakali, a mythical island filled with magical creatures they learned about from their Filipino families. As Jo and Raissa search for a way home, they discover their memories are at risk. Will they find a way off the island before they forget each other forever?”

Forgotten Island comes from the team behind the Oscar-nominated Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and features the voices of H.E.R., Liza Soberano, Dave Franco, Jenny Slate, Manny Jacinto, Dolly de Leon, Jo Koy, Ronny Chieng, and Lea Salonga.
