After a protracted wait, LineageOS is now officially available for the entire Pixel 10 lineup and the more affordable Pixel 10a.
Over a year since its release, it’s great news that Pixel 10 owners now have the option to flash LineageOS on their devices, but the long wait is likely due to circumstances beyond the Lineage team’s control.
Google has made it harder for ROM projects in recent years, making it harder for projects like Lineage and Graphene, as the company is no longer sharing device trees and driver binaries. This coincided with the launch of Android 16, and so it has likely stalled some of the development for the last generation of hardware.
On top of that, delays to public kernel downloads for Pixel devices haven’t been ideal.
Some of this likely accounts for the delay in LineageOS builds for Pixel 10. At least the good news is that builds are now available for download on the same day LineageOS 24 was announced. This latest version is the Android 17 build for the custom ROM and comes with a number of changes to take better advantage of the enhancements added in early June 2026.
This release includes a whole host of Material 3 Expressive changes to the default app suite with a brand new “Canvas” image editor. Security patches are accounted for up to October 2026, meaning you are fully secure if you do prefer an AI-free experience with Lineage on your Pixel 10.
It’s worth noting that Pixel 10 Pro XL, 10 Pro Fold, and Pixel 10a builds are not yet live, but nightly Pixel 10 and 10 Pro builds are live right now .
