Lalit Kala Akademi (LKA) in New Delhi is celebrating its 65th National Exhibition of Art this year, featuring over 270 artworks from around the country. For over six decades, India's National Academy of Art has provided a platform for contemporary artistic expression.
As seen in this photo essay, the exhibition celebrates the creative excellence of Indian artists and reflects the evolving visual culture of Indian traditions and contemporary practices. It showcases creativity from diverse regions, materials, mediums, themes, and styles.
The cultural plurality is reflected across core concepts such as spirituality, nature, society, remembrance, and open interpretation. The artists explore connections between the personal and the collective, the traditional and the contemporary.
The showcase is more than an annual exhibition—it is a reminder of the importance of diversity and unity in the country. Viewers from India and overseas are inspired by the shared values and cultural imagination of a living civilisation with ancient roots.
The organisers reportedly received 6,175 artworks from 2,495 artists, representing 27 States and Union Territories. A rigorous selection process presented 270 artworks for the exhibition.
Another jury process selected 20 artworks by 20 artists for the Lalit Kala Akademi Awards.
