Jacksepticeye’s Ready to Do His Best On the ‘Bloodborne’ Movie

PlayStation’s not stopping on adaptations anytime soon, and the most intriguing one we know about is Bloodborne. Developed by FromSoftware, the action-RPG will become an animated movie with Seán “Jacksepticeye” McLoughlin on hand as a producer.

In a recent IGN interview, McLoughlin opened up about his approach to the material. He started by saying there’s been genuine progress since the first announcement, enough to where the full story’s been mapped out. “There are people in place to make this thing happen,” he said. “Hopefully sooner than later, we can have announcements where we talk about who’s involved and where it’s going, little teases of the story and where we’re at with that.”

Love for Bloodborne has grown over the years, especially since it remains locked to the PlayStation 4 (at least, officially) and a pitched remake was rejected. McLoughlin acknowledged the “monumental IP” he’s playing with, calling it “an interesting job to have, and fun to do. […] I’m just there to be like, ‘Hey, we need this pinprick perfect.’ Will we ever get something perfect? I don’t know.”

What he does know is that he doesn’t have any interest in just redoing Bloodborne’s story in movie form. Pointing to the recent Resident Evil and Fallout, McLoughlin argued game adaptations thrive from “leeway in the story and latitude to tell different tales within universes. ” Makes sense, and his point’s backed up by the Bloodborne comics that’ve come out over the years.
