Google Home is one of the most user-friendly smart home ecosystems, and Google has built out an extensive collection of cameras, speakers, and displays. That positions them as great gifts to expand someone’s smart home.
It’s pretty common to get one or two smart home devices and call it a day, but ecosystems like Google Home begin to come alive when there are several devices working in harmony with each other. For instance, you can start out with the Google Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen), as many do. It makes A/C and heat controls easy, and even saves you money along the way.
But adding something like the Google Home Speaker with Gemini built-in means you get even more control of your home’s indoor environment. You could go a step further and add a Google Nest Cam (indoor or outdoor) or a Google Nest Doorbell, whether wired or battery. It’s a bit pricier, but I love the Google Nest Cam with Floodlight as a smart home gift option for someone, since it provides more utility.
In any case, adding a couple more foundational pieces to your smart home makes it more useful. And as Google adds features with Gemini for Home, users get access to smart alerts and notifications that those cameras didn’t provide a year or two ago, all within the Google Home app.
If you’re gifting for someone who doesn’t have the beginnings of a smart home setup, Google’s Nest products are a good start. You could start with the Google Home Speaker, depending on their needs.
