Ecommerce marketplace Flipkart has picked up a minority stake in global B2B travel tech startup TravClan. The move is designed to upgrade international holiday packages and expand supply on both Cleartrip and Flipkart Travel.
TravClan said it plans to use the new capital to scale its platform, deepen its global supply relationships, and expand its engineering, business development, and operational teams.
Through the deal, Flipkart taps into TravClan's network of direct global suppliers and on-ground teams. TravClan currently powers outbound travel for over 15,000 travel agents, helping them build customised itineraries, book hotels, and handle activities with 24/7 destination support. Integrating these operations allows Cleartrip and Flipkart Travel to offer Indian travelers more curated international trips with reliable support throughout their journey.
"Investing in TravClan strengthens our ability to offer international holiday packages while deepening our travel capabilities. Travellers today are looking for more than a flight or hotel booking. They want a holiday that is curated around their interests and supported throughout the journey. TravClan’s supplier network and destination capabilities will help us build that experience across Cleartrip and Flipkart Travel,” said Nishant Verman, SVP, Corporate Development and Partnerships, Flipkart.
"India is becoming one of the largest outbound travel markets in the world, with travellers taking their first international trips driving a significant part of this growth. The opportunity lies in making these trips more affordable while maintaining reliable service levels. By contracting directly with suppliers and operating our own ground teams, we are able to offer competitive prices and deliver a consistent experience," said Arun Bagaria, Co-founder and CEO, TravClan.
