Deepinder Goyal’s Temple wearable is set to move towards commercial launch, with pre-orders potentially opening next week. The device, which is designed to sit near the temple rather than on the wrist, is intended to track changes linked to brain blood flow and a metric called Entropy. Goyal, founder of Zomato and Eternal, said the launch version will come in six colours — True Gold, Rose Gold, Black Mirror, Real Jade, Deep Blue and Purple Funk. People who have joined the early-access waitlist are expected to get priority when bookings open. Temple is a small, pill-shaped device designed to sit between the forehead and ear. Unlike smartwatches and fitness bands, it is attached to the side of the head using adhesive attachments called Grips.
Goyal has described the latest version as the smallest wearable on the market by volume. The device is secured to the skin with single-use Grips, which he says will be supplied without a limit as part of the product. According to Goyal, Temple remains in place while running, jumping and exercising. He has also said it can be worn while showering, swimming and using a sauna, with scuba diving being the exception. The Grips cannot be reused. Goyal has said one can remain attached for around seven days, which corresponds with the device's reported battery life, although the company recommends changing it every two to three days.
