ChatGPT becomes a new advertising channel for Indian brands: Here's how

Razorpay partners with OpenAI to help Indian businesses launch and manage ad campaigns on ChatGPT, leveraging AI for product discovery.

Razorpay has partnered with OpenAI to help Indian businesses launch and manage advertising campaigns on ChatGPT, as AI-led product discovery emerges as a new channel for brands. Under the collaboration, Razorpay’s growth marketing platform Engage will help businesses prepare product catalogues, structure product feeds, launch campaigns and track their performance on ChatGPT Ads. The companies said the initiative will initially involve brands including Fastrack, Traya, Tata Neu, Rivaah by Tanishq, Shaadi.com, Axis Max Life, Tanishq, Palmonas and Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS).

The partnership comes as ChatGPT becomes a platform where users can discover products and services through conversational queries rather than conventional keyword-based searches. For instance, users may describe their requirements and preferences in natural language and use the responses to explore products or services. Razorpay said Engage will provide the technology and operational support required for businesses to participate in ChatGPT Ads. This includes assessing catalogue readiness, improving product feeds, creating and managing campaigns, and measuring and optimising campaign performance. The platform will also use an AI agent to assist with campaign creation and management based on ChatGPT Ads best practices. Razorpay said the system will monitor campaign performance and make adjustments, with its team providing human oversight where required. "The way people discover products is changing. The next customer may not search for a product or scroll through an ad; they may simply ask an AI assistant for help deciding what to buy," Rahul Kothari, Chief Operations Officer, Razorpay, said.
