Bengaluru firm unveils reusable rocket test site near Sriharikota; 1st engine test in November

Bengaluru-based Ethereal Exploration Guild (The Guild) on Friday announced to have unveiled The Anchorage, a 150-acre rocket engine development and testing facility in Space City, Andhra Pradesh, around 40 kilometres from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC SHAR) at Sriharikota.

According to the private space technology company, the facility’s commissioned Pegasus Horizontal Static Test Facility has a pressure-fed rocket engine testing capability rated at 210 bar, which the company describes as India’s highest-pressure-rated capability of its kind.

The facility will support the development of Razor Crest Mk-1 (RCM1), The Guild’s fully reusable medium-lift launch vehicle. The company plans to conduct the first hot-fire test of its Pegasus upper-stage engine at The Anchorage in November 2026.

It is also developing infrastructure to test the larger Stallion booster engine, engine clusters and integrated rocket stages.

The commissioned Pegasus Horizontal Static Test Facility supports testing of individual components, ignition systems, thrust chambers and turbomachinery, followed by integrated engine firing. The 210-bar pressure-fed testing capability will allow the company to assess hardware and subsystem performance before testing the complete engine.

Pegasus is an 80 kN semi-cryogenic engine designed to power RCM1’s reusable upper stage. It incorporates The Guild’s Full-Flow Segregated Cooling Cycle (FSCC) and a dual thrust-chamber architecture. Developed in-house, FSCC is designed to address the thermal and operational requirements of returning an upper stage from orbit and preparing it for reuse.

2 MN gas-generator booster engine designed to power lift-off and atmospheric ascent. The Guild describes it as the world’s most powerful reusable semi-cryogenic rocket engine.
