Apple TV 4K launches in India at ₹39,900 with Siri AI and four-speaker surround sound

Apple has unveiled the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K, introducing AI-powered content discovery, faster performance and an enhanced home theatre experience. Priced at ₹39,900 in India, the device will be available for pre-order from October 13, with sales beginning on November 13.

The biggest addition is Siri AI, which aims to make searching for and discovering films and TV shows easier. The assistant can answer questions about a programme, recommend content and provide details about its cast, filming locations and age suitability. Users can also interact with Siri hands-free, thanks to three built-in far-field microphones.

Powered by Apple’s A19 chip, the new Apple TV 4K delivers up to 50% faster CPU performance and up to twice the GPU performance of the previous generation. The chip also features a dedicated AV1 decoder, enabling more efficient video streaming.

For home theatre enthusiasts, the device supports a four-speaker surround sound setup using four HomePod mini 2 or compatible second-generation HomePod speakers. Audio levels and timing are automatically calibrated according to the speakers’ positions in the room.

The upgraded Siri Remote also supports Find My with Precision Finding, making it easier for users to locate a misplaced remote.

Beyond streaming, Apple TV 4K doubles as a smart home hub, allowing users to control compatible accessories, view security camera feeds and receive notifications on their television. It also supports Apple Fitness+, Apple Arcade, FaceTime through Continuity Camera and personalised photo screen savers.

Apple says Siri requests can be processed on-device or through Private Cloud Compute. Footage from compatible HomeKit Secure Video cameras remains end-to-end encrypted.
